Hello Level 4 Intro to Professional studies
Here you can evidence your research and update your production Diaries on each of your modules.
You can create individual folders or links or label each post to the correct module making it easier to access your work and to grade it.

New year at Creative Film & Moving Image Production @CCAD
Welcome to our brand new Level 4 students and our returning Level 5 and Level 6 students!
We hope you have a fantastic year and do really well with developing your own blog sites to help you research for the modules and evidence all your findings!
Out with the old; Production Folders are being discontinued this year (Loud cheers from Levels 5 & 6), and in with the new! All production work will be submitted online via your Blog, the VLE or "Turnitin"depending on the module requirements. Even your films will now be submitted digitally so no more burning DVD's and Blue-rays at the last minute to try and hit the deadline! Phew!
We are hoping for a really great year with some changes as above and with a couple of new cool toys which will be unveiled soon, it will hopefully be a great year for the course!

Welcome to 2013 introductory professional studies

Welcome to Introductory professional studies.
It is important to start to research and develop your blogs.
This is how you will submit your reports for assessment and the supporting research. There is no folder work so any physical work must be scanned into your blogs.
All downloaded,
scanned and photographed material (visual and text based) MUST be legally
sourced and referenced on your weblog.
Remember it is in your interest to get good at blogging as you must submit your work this way!

Hello
I've refound this blog site and will start to use it again. This is essentially a tale of the FDA degree course and what our students get up to on the course!
Our first year students are currently working on their 16mm film projects, shooting their "Sense of..." dramas. The student productions are centred around a bank heist, A biker bar, a haunted house and a man who loses his mind!
The students have shot a B/W test shoot and they are now deep into production on their colour projects. This year we are doing a test of Kodak 250D stock versus Fuji 250D across the four films to see which give us the richer colours and saturation.It should be fun to see the footage when we have it returned from processing over the Xmas period.
As well as the 16mm films the first year (stage 5) students are working on their Location doc/drama digital project which are also due in January. Busy time for the first years.
Our 2nd years (Stage 5) are getting ready to present their findings from their creative producion module where they test research and test new ways of developing thier film making skills and finishing off their shoots for their live clients, who have been found by the students themselves and gives the students an understanding of finding and working for a real client. Results in January for how they did!

Multicam finished!
Hi all
Just to say well done to all the FDA TV & Film production students for getting their live Multi-camera production on air, as it were, live, bang on at 4pm yesterday. The show was the most ambitious ever conceived in my seven years teaching this module and the students are to be congratulated for even attempting such a difficult task which included no less than 14 actors playing 16 roles. While I can't talk about individual performances of the crew, it has to be said that the days up to and including the broadcast were a great team effort despite some serious difficulties and setbacks along the way. To all of you well done! I'd also like to thank the actors for their time, effort and of course their abilities, especially James Harris given the size of his script and the fact he took it on with very little time to learn such a large part. To all of you a huge thank you! Your copies of the performance will be with you in a few weeks time! On Monday we shall be reviewing the recording to see what worked, what did not and what it looked like in the final outcome. More nerves for the students I think!

Now you have have your folders (if you have paid) It is vital you start filling them with your research you have done so far. It's not just about the forms to be filled in but quality research in your roles.
Crew roles are just as important as a director or producer!
For example is there a film that has inspired a certain shot or has the sound being used in a unique way in a certain film that adds to tension that may work for your film.
It is vital that you do sound or visual tests and record these and enter them in your folders with commentry about how these tests went. The director wants a particularly difficult shot. How will I achieve the look he or she is after? What does the storyboard call for? We did the test shots with the P2 camera but I wasn't happy with the lighting. What did I do to improve the shot? How do I mask the sound of the buses going past? The director wants a really wide shot in the open . How do I mic up that shot without showing the boom pole? These are just a couple of questions that a crew memeber should be asking themselves and recording in diaries, blogs and within the paperwork before the shoot has even happened. There should be much more that occurs to you depending on script, location etc.

Mock interview!
Hi All
I hope you are preparing for your interviews by researching the programmes and your job role you are applying for or you are interviewing for? We will if possible be filming these! We will then be reversing the roles the following week if possible! And hopefully we will be joined by Louise and Andy!

Waiting on the pitch results
Hi All 2nd years!
We are currently waiting on the results of all your hard work and our client responses to your pitches. We are hoping to announce which of you will get the green light for pre-production to begin.
The 3 multiple pitches are Yellowcayke, CCAD Promo and the Woolroom.
As well as these there are 4 individual pitches.
We would in an ideal world hope to get you the results by Tuesday 12th October.
If your project does not get picked don't be disheartened as this is part of life in the media world where pitching for client work against others is all part of the great game. Think of it as an actor going for an audition. Each wants the lead role but don't forget there are lots of equally important roles out there to go for, so have a think what production you might want to work on if your pitch is not successful this time and perhaps let me know via this blog if you want to!

FdA TV & Film Production at CCAD
Welcome!
to the students on the FdA TV & Film Production at Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD)
and to any other interested parties who may have professional advice / help for the TV and Film crews of the future!
This year our 1st year Part Time and our 2nd year students all 18+ have a live project for a client to create. Our 2nd years also have a live 52 minute Muticamera studio experence and their major Specialism where they can specialise in Scriptwritng, Directing , Producing, Lighting/Camera, Sound, Editing or a combination of the above.
Our students will be setting up their own blogs to discuss the work they are taking on and use this site to discuss any options or submit difficult problems they may encounter.
